I enjoy classic literature. I also enjoy films based on classic literature, provided they’re well done. So I have purchased all three of the extended versions of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The other day we watched The Return of the King. A terrific movie, and I still believe Sean Astin should have had an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Samwise Gamgee.
But I digress. As caught up as I was in the story, I found myself having the same reaction I did when I first saw it in the theater last year. Perhaps it’s because my 40-something year old brain occasionally confuses similar pieces of classic literature.
But whenever I see Sam and Frodo climbing up Mt. Doom to destroy the One Ring, the same lines keep running through my mind:
“Three thousand feet up! Up the side of Mt. Crumpit,
He rode with his load to the tiptop to dump it!”
Do you suppose Gollum is actually the Grinch in disguise?

Gollum = Grinch!
Tee hee!
Happy Holidays!
Hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
Now I want to go watch that scene. As you know I’m not really into the LOTR stuff, but Pat and Andy are… big time. They’ve been watching the extended ROTK disks every chance they get since Christmas day. I’ve never sat through the movie, but I do love all the extras on the DVD!
lmao!
Everytime Elrond stops talking I can’t help thinking “Mr Anderson”
