HS and BD went to see this the other night while Mr. B and I were out with friends.
I expected them to come back raving about the special effects or maybe Jack Black’s brilliant acting. Okay, just the special effects, then.*
Instead, they came home looking a little subdued. When asked, they both insisted that they liked the movie a lot. Then, they both added “But it was so sad.” BD said she cried. More than once.
My kids were apparently more affected by the plot than the bells and whistles. Good heavens–are they growing up???
*For the record, I have only seen Jack Black in High Fidelity and School of Rock, both of which I enjoyed tremendously. And in both of which I assumed he was playing himself.
