BD is still recuperating. In our house, recuperating means that you get to watch a whole lot more TV than Mama usually allows. For BD, it’s been mostly videos. Last night it was “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Today she watched “Freaky Friday” and “Muppet Fairy Tale Theater.” Then I went to the library. “Ella Enchanted” (thought to self: I don’t think she’s seen that) (postscript: it’s not nearly as good as the book); “Spirited Away” (I didn’t like it when we watched it together, but she loves it); “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (it’s years since I’ve seen it, but it’s funny and she’ll enjoy it, what with being home from schoo)l.
Oh. My. Goodness. Trust me: Ferris Bueller IS funny, but that PG-13 rating is for some pretty rough language, and an 11 year old does not need to be watching this. At least not MY 11 year old.
It reminded me of the time we decided to watch “When Harry Met Sally” with HS when he was about 16. We hadn’t seen that in a long time, either, and had somehow forgotten that the movie was mostly about s*e*x.
Tomorrow I’m planning to pick up “Ever After” with Drew Barrymore. My weak memory tells me that it was a much better retelling of Cinderella than the movie “Ella Enchanted” (really, read the book; it was wonderful). If there’s anything unsuitable in it, would someone please tell me now?

I watched “Ever After” just the other night. It is about the third or fourth time that I’ve watched it. I liked Drew Barrymore. I don’t remember any adult scenes or talk. I think it is basically a different and sweet story about Cinderella.
Atleast she gets to see some classics. Hope she feels better soon.
I need a couple days to lay around and watch movies….but I’m not willing to get extra dental work to do so! We own Ever After and I love that movie. There isn’t anything in there that I can recall that she shouldn’t see. I definitely could watch it over and over!
I hope she’s feeling better soon!
Has she seen The Princess Bride? That might be a good one. I think Ever After is safe, as far as I can remember. Hope she’s better soon!
I love “Ever After”. It is one of the few movies I own (as opposed to the many Harrison owns). Nothing that I can recall even you would object to (me being far more lenient as a parent as you know!).
