Musical Beds

HS arrives home tomorow night from his third summer running workcamps for church youth groups.  But this time he won’t be heading south right away to start another semester in Tennessee.  He’ll be starting graduate school much closer to home.

But he’s decided (and we agree) that living at home is perhaps not such a great idea.  He’ll be starting an apartment hunt next week.  Meantime, however, I’m thinking that he might want to sleep in his bedroom.

The problem is that it’s been taken over this summer.  And not just by Millie, who’s decided that his guitar amplifier makes a great backrest for a napping cat.  When Mr. B gets restless at night or wants to finish a book before he goes to sleep, he heads over there.   Unless, of course, BD has already moved in for the night.  I’m pretty sure I spent at least one or two nights there for various reasons, too.

I washed all his bedding today, but decided I’d better not risk putting it back on till everyone in the house has woken up tomorrow morning.  And perhaps it’s time to make up the beds in the guest room.

UPDATE:  After posting this last night, I took HS’s sheets up to his room–and found BD sleeping on his unmade bed.  This transition may be even tougher than I thought.

How wonderful that he’ll be closer to home for grad school! Now he can come home & cook dinner for you! ;-)

They always come home! We have three who no longer technically live with us but we have to keep a room available at all times - just in case!

You have no idea how comforting this is to me as I send my Olderbaby off to HS. Tell me they come back home, just long enough to drive you crazy and want them back out… right?
