I have never had a sense of style. I like clothes that are comfortable and inexpensive. Dressing up means putting on my black jeans and a sweater instead of my blue jeans and a sweatshirt.
Since I usually work either at my boss’s home or my own, work clothes are not a priority. In fact, I’m writing this on a break from working at home, and I’m wearing a workout top, a worn-out warm-up jacket, and some old black sweatpants I stole from Mr. B a few years back.
Later in the week, however, I have to attend a business meeting. It’s one of those all-day events where we’ll actually learn something in the morning, then head to the racetrack for the afternoon (this IS Kentucky, you know).
Add some recent weight gain to my already dismal wardrobe, and I have nothing to wear.
So yesterday, I went shopping. But I took along some backup. I figured it was time for me to seek the services of someone who actually knows something about style. The same someone who is constantly rolling her eyes at my clothing choices. BD.
She did an excellent job. I now have a new pair of gray pinstriped trousers, with a much wider leg than I’d have thought of buying. A striped blouse with 3/4 length sleeves looks terrific with it. And they were on sale, so I even bought BD a new shirt for herself as payment for her services.
Next up, a new skirt and/or dress.

Yep, it sure is helpful to have a daughter with fashion sense! I get all kinds of compliments on wardrobe and it’s usually something teen #1 picked out for me!
Does BD hire out? I could use a hand here!

I’d say you got off pretty cheap only having to buy a blouse for your very own fashion consultant.
I wish I had one of those fashion consultants around! I had to buy business-type clothes recently and I only hope they look as good as I think they do!
