Today is a day that will live in infamy.
Instant replay has come to Major League Baseball.
Sure, it’s only for “boundary calls” on home runs. For now, at least.
The door has opened. While even I don’t ever foresee instant replay being used for balls and strikes, how long will it be before it’s approved for close plays on the base paths?
Baseball, despite “DiamondVIsion,” is one sport that has remained remarkably free of technology. Until now, it was human beings playing–and umpiring–a sport. Something will be lost from its natural rhythm with this change.
For now, I’ll just be glad that minor league baseball is too cheap wise enough to have missed the boat on this change.

Instant replay sucks in no mater what sport it’s used. Refs and Umps are there for a REASON…to make judgment calls. Sometimes they get it wrong. That’s life. Why can’t the pro leagues suck it up and be adult about it. Kind of like little kids are expected to…
Our family does enough groaning at the TV screen during baseball season. We don’t need more input - we know our own opinions and don’t need electronics to back ‘em up. (Or prove ‘em wrong)
I agree 100% and then some!
Kinda takes the joy of arguing with the ump outta the game, doesn’t it?
